Twafwane school
Twafwane school

Twanfwane community school in Katondo community Kabwe was started by local teachers to provide education for local children whose families couldn’t afford to send them to the state schools. HIV and Aids infection is very high in Kabwe 1 in 3 and 90% of the children at Twafwane are directly affected by this through the loss of one or both parents.

Twafwane school was started in the local community centre and has grown through kind donations and the hard work of the community to fund the school and the education of the children.

One of the main sources of funding comes through a Maize mill which the school built and runs so that local farmers can grind their maze ready for market.

Twafwane now teaches 850 pupils using a purpose-built school with 4 classrooms, until they reach high school age at which point if the child passes their exams they can go on to High school. But they don’t have the funds to go so many will not have the chance to finish their education and with no industry to speak of in Kabwe, after the closure of the mines there is very little hope for employment.

By Raising £300 the peer leaders at Twafwane can buy 250 50kg sacks of un-ground maize from one of the farmer who uses the mill. They can they mill the maize, the children help out in the milling a sacking, and then they can sell the maize to the government for 5 times their investment. That’s right they can make £1500 ( which is 10,500,000 Kwatcha) they can then Buy another 250 sacks of maize and invest in the children’s continuing education for generations.

The portraits below are of the children at Twafwane who you will be helping in the first instant and then many more in the years to come, both the children and the families who will have a better chance with the education that you can provide.

April is the best month to buy Maize!!

Please give to this excellent cause and share with everyone who cares

Hornby Institute Wedding Fair

First wedding fair, and first of the year as we have two more lined up for February.

Here’s Roxanne with the really furry jumper on in the front room of Hornby institute, it a Great building more can be found here,

http://www.hornbycrc.co.uk/

The day was well attended with the trades and had some promising visitors attend.

It was a good learning experience for me, Roxanne has done fairs in the past and knew what to expect from the day, which felt like a day off for me as I wasn’t on the computer all day.

It was good to meet up with other exhibitors and get to know some of the local trades and professions.

Next wedding fair is in Leyland,

Digital Content Delivery

With the increase in portable digital device for photo viewing, the method  for delivering this new product needed looking at. Yes there are DVD’s etc, but they lack archival properties and can be damaged through handling. So we have just taken delivery of our first batch of printed flash cards, these have the benefit of being a lot more robust and with better archival properties to boot. below is a proof sheet of how they look. They feel sturdy in the hand with a nice finish, they fit in a purse or wallet that holds credit cards and have 4Gb of space on them which should cater for all requirements, and then some.

OkPhoto uses Fotoshop salon range

Our photo stylists are Fotoshop stylist experts, having worked with the product range for 14 years now, learning the industry leading techniques……!
http://uk.lifestyle.yahoo.com/new-beauty-secret-revealed–fotoshop-by-adobe.html
This is a link to a mock add but its something that I have thought about for years as I tweak, and touch and blend if you want to look like the stars in the magazines then get the photos made and realise that you can look like the stars, for the same amount of time that the stars look that way, also before Photoshop there were real artists who would airbrushed on to the negs to create perfection. and people say photographers aren’t artists…
I still think there’s nothing wrong with perfection in a photograph, just along as people understand that look can’t be achieved in day-to-day life, removing the right to fotoshop (Photoshop) would be like going back and telling Leonardo to paint that smile as it was and include all the bad teeth and spots don’t think people would still be buying the poster if the truth were painted….
